The Inter-Provincial Coordination Committee (IPCC) would take up various issues in its meeting on March 26 and would decide further to promote harmony among the federating units, said Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Salim Saifullah Khan.
Talking to APP here on Monday the minister said IPCC had been working successfully on the given task and bringing all the stakeholders on board about various issues.
Issues pertaining to backwardness of Balochistan province, division of national resources, water royalty and provincial autonomy were expected to be taken up for discussion. Provincial Coordination Ministers Chaudhry Zaheer Ahmed Khan from Punjab, Sohrab Khan Serki, Sindh, Maulana Fazl-e-Ali Haqqani, NWFP and Sher Jan Baloch from Balochistan will represent their respective provinces.
Saifullah told that instead of provincial chief ministers, ministers for provincial coordination had been given representation in IPCC along with other concerned officials. The minister while referring to IPCC achievements said in the IPCC's maiden meeting it was agreed to fix jobs quota of provinces according to the 1998 census. The meeting also took a number of important decisions including setting up of centralised vehicles database registration system, Balochsitan's tubewell subsidy, fisheries licences in Sindh and Balochistan and uniform contractual documents.
Another meeting was held in Lahore, the minister said, adding it had been agreed to hold regular meetings in all the provincial capitals. So far about 14 items had been discussed during the IPCC's previous meetings with important decisions. While a vital decision on Capital Value Tax (CVT) was also taken in its previous meeting, he added.
He said after its approval the provinces would get share out of CVT. The minister for IPC said the IPCC had been revived to promote understanding and harmony among the provinces and the federation on important national matters.
The minister said political differences exist in every civilised society and it is not a new trend in democratic system.
"But the matters of national interest should be given priority over all things and IPCC is working for the same purpose," he stressed.
