I fully endorse the salient features, its projection and true picturisation on the above subject by Hasan Adil Malik published in Business Recorder. As a resident of Gulistan-e-Jouhar and aggrieved by the pinching inconveniences being caused by the damaged Gulistan-e-Jouhar on daily routine.
I would further add that the situation highlighted earlier has more deteriorated due to rains in Karachi. The long existing cracks and dug up holes on most of the main roads and service roads are filled with rainwater. At some places, on account of unrepaired and persistent leakage of underground sewerage lines, the dirty water level has stranded residential areas.
Anyone driving a car through Block-2 to 18 of Gulistan-e-Jouhar is not aware of the depth of holes filled with dirty water. This is forcing residents to divert their cars away suffering loss of time and money besides mental agony to reach schools, offices and other places.
The worst damaged/broken road lies between Shamama Shopping Center turning point to Rufi Square via Jouhar Chourangee in Blocks-14, 15, 16, 17, 18 passing through Rabia Garden and Rabia City and from Karachi University Road to Dar-ul-Sehat Hospital via Afnaan Chourangee till Jouhar Square in Blocks 2 to 13 of Gulistan-e-Jouhar.
For long, one way of main/service roads in Block-8 to 13 via Pehelwan Goth till Rufi Square is completely occupied by huge encroachments, unauthorised motor workshops, bus parking etc. The existing ancient single road from Rufi Square to airport via ASF headquarters, being very narrow, requires immediate broadening to cope with the 24-hour movement of huge 2-way vehicular traffic. The President of Pakistan and Governor of Sindh are requested to direct-concerned authorities to arrange immediate relief.
