The Senate Standing Committee on Housing Works and Environment which met here under the Chairmanship of the Senator Dr Muhammad Ali Brohi has expressed dissatisfaction over the poor maintenance of Ghulshan-e-Jinnah complex.
The committee directed the DG Pak PWD to conduct an inquiry against the Sub-Engineer for his alleged involvement in corruption and misbehaviour with the occupants and submit a report to the Committee within one week.
Regarding the development schemes initiated by Senators from 2002 to 2007, the Members of the Committee were of the view that allocations of funds are unnecessarily causing delay in their implementation. They complained about the poor quality of work under taken on the schemes and directed PWD to ensure proper implementation of the schemes initiated by the MPs. The Committee decided to undertake evaluation of the schemes province-wise with a view to have a comprehensive update.
The committee was also briefed on the projects undertaken by the national Construction Limited (NCL) in Balochistan Province. MD (NCL) informed that Quetta city was experiencing a shortage of six million gallons of water per day and said the government has started projects to overcome this shortage.-PR
