Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Sunday that the government will accept and implement the verdict in the reference case the Supreme Judicial Council will give. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said Justice Bhagwandas has taken the oath of Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan and now misperceptions should be removed.
He said all the stakeholders would present their views at the proceedings of Supreme Judicial Council and its all decisions should be accepted.
The Prime Minister said the Supreme Judicial Council is a constitutional institute. He said the government will ensure law and order situation in the country as it is a prime duty of the government. He said no one will be allowed to interrupt the normal life in the country and to politicise the situation.
Shaukat said the government has a clear direction for the welfare of the people and as a result of policies of the last seven years the country has been put on the path of development. He said people have got basic amenities of the life and their living standard has been improved a lot. He warned that any disruption would not be allowed to block the process of uplift.
The Prime Minister said the Opposition is engaged to find out a issue during the past few years but they have now failed to pursue a solid issue while the people of Pakistan have also rejected their negative politics. He said if the Opposition has a positive agenda then the people would support them but unfortunately they are involved in such negative agenda which could not attract the public so that they have made the non-issue a political one.
Shaukat said the government will uphold the supreme national interest and will make every effort to continue its policies to move forward its development programme. He said now there is a stable system in the country and local and foreign investment is pouring in and the government has created a conducive atmosphere in which the people are observing a better future.
He said the Opposition has the right to hold protest but it should within the framework of the law and no one should be harmed from their protest.
The Prime Minister said the government has launched a number of welfare programmes for the uplift of the masses. He said it includes the President's National Internship programme, which will provide thousands of jobs to the educated youth. He said the programme will continue without any interference to accommodate the every youth who have completed sixteen years of education.
Prime Minister said all the state organs are working smoothly within the parameters of the law. He said the government is focusing to solve the problems of people and all the policies of the government have been made in this direction.
He said the government has focused to improve the education, health and infrastructure sectors in the country to make sure the rapid development on the gross root level.
Shaukat said the media is enjoying unprecedented freedom which never been seen in the past. He said about fifty channels are functioning and the government is bearing the criticism with patience. However, he said the criticism should be positive and constructive.
About latest UN sanctions on Iran, the Prime Minister said Iranian nuclear issue should be solved through only dialogue and it should not be addressed through any other means. He said each country has the right to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful use and it should be in the parameters of the IAEA.
