The present government has taken revolutionary steps for the development of special education and it has increased the budget for special education by 200 percent. Federal Minister for Special Education and Social Welfare, Zobaida Jalal stated this on her visit to Punjab University's Child Welfare Centre (CWC).
She said special educational centres would be opened in every district so that special children could not be deprived of their basic right of education. She said it is the first time in Pakistan's history that special persons were allowed for civil services examinations. She further said that one special person is among the top three position holders of CCS examinations.
She said we will present a bill in National Assembly, according to which 2 percent vacancies would be deputed for special persons and by which they will be able to play their role in national development and hence will be useful citizens of the society.
She said the visit of PU CWC remembered her first school, which was established in Balochistan in 1982 for girls. She said this is the great achievement of PU that it has provided quality facilities for education and training to special children.
