Leader of the visiting team of French National Institute of Defence Studies Helene Mazeran has emphatically dispelled the impression in the West that Pakistan is a dangerous country to visit. She was talking to reporters on Wednesday at the residence of French Consul General Pierre Seillan.
The 10-member delegation is currently on a 10-day visit to Pakistan and arrived in Islamabad from Paris on March 23. Mazeran said that when her delegation left France for Pakistan, there were some people who had tried to prevent it from leaving by saying that the country they were heading for was very dangerous.
"After arriving here, I think that Pakistan is much more safer place than many in the West think", she remarked, adding that Pakistan was a stable state.
Mazeran further stated the purpose of the visit of her delegation was to better understand the situation in Pakistan in the regional environment. She also pointed out that Pakistan was trying to promote peace in the region and also to improve the situation.
Mazeran further said that when back in France, her delegation would submit a report to the French Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the Commanding Officer of the Anti-Submarine Destroyer "Tourville", Captain Xavier Robour, who was also present on the occasion, said that his vessel would conduct a two-day exercise from March 31.
