A conference in connection with the war of independence 1857 will be held on May 10 here. This was announced by Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Syed while addressing a meeting.
He said conference had been convened to observe the 150th anniversary of the war of independence, under the auspices of National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research (NIHCR) in collaboration with National Centenary Celebration Committee (NCCC) of Muslim League programme.
He said the government had chalked out a comprehensive plan to educate the young generation about the Pakistan Movement. He said the war of independence was a milestone for the people of Pakistan and India, which originated the sentiments of independence among the masses of the subcontinent.
So, he said, it was essential that the 150th anniversary of the war of independence should be celebrated with fervour and enthusiasm. He said scholars from all the four provinces would participate in the conference and would pay tribute to the heroes of the war of independence. NCCC of Muslim League Co-ordinator Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi and NIHCR Director Professor Dr Riaz Ahmed briefed the participants about the salient features of the conference.
