The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has asked the lawyers fraternity to keep its struggle for the rule of law peaceful and non-violent. In a statement issued here on Friday.
The President and Executive Committee of SCBA paid tributes to the lawyers for launching a countrywide principled, bold and united struggle to restore the constitution as it existed before October 12, 1999, restoration of 'true' democracy and independence of judiciary.
The statement said that it would be in the interest of the legal fraternity to make sure that their struggle is not politicised and used by vested interests for self-aggrandisement.
Meanwhile, the vice chairman of Pakistan Bar Council, Ali Ahmad Kurd, has called a meeting of various provincial bar councils and bar associations here in the Supreme Court building on April 12 to chalk out their future programme of action.
