A meeting of the standing committee of NWFP Assembly for Home and Tribal Affairs was held here under the chairmanship of Bashir Ahmad Bilour MPA. MPAs Maulana Jehangir Khan, Malik Hayat Khan, Ms Riffat Jabeen, Ms Nabeela Manzor, Ateequr Rehman, Ms Muneeba Shehzada Mansoorul Mulk and Ms Nighat Yasmeen Orakzai.
The meeting was also attended by the Inspector General Police NWFP. Muhammad Sharif Virk, Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Badshah Gul Wazir, Chief Capital City Police Abdul Hameed Marwat, Deputy Inspector, Police, D.I.Khan, Zulfiqar Cheema, SSP Peshawar (interrogation wing) Qazi Jameel and SSP Traffic Peshawar.
The meeting discussed the progress in the tragic incident of suicide bomb blast in Dalgran, Peshawar and in Green Hotel Peshawar, threatening letters, sent to schools, colleges, hair dressers and music centres, mobile snatching, withdrawal of FC NWFP, installation of cameras in the important and sensitive areas of the city, FM Radios in Swat and law and order situation there and control of undisciplined traffic in district Peshawar, sanctions on the non-permit vehicles, encroachments and overall law and order situation of the province.
The committee directed the Inspector General Police to activate their police force for all the aspects of the agenda and develop such a strategy, so that better progress could be made before the occurrence of any incident. The committee also suggested to the federal government to withdraw the FC contingents from different parts of the province so that the security of the people of the NWFP could be done in a better way.
The also stressed the traffic police authorities to develop a strategy based master plan and streamline the traffic system involving the nazims of the district government, illegal addas should be abolished while legal addas should be improved.
The meeting further approved that the police and SHOs should rightly and timely register the FIR on this occasion. The Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Badshah Gul Wazir presented the review of all legal aspects for the solution of all problems to the committee and said that provincial government was striving hard for the solving all these problems.
The IGP briefed the meeting in detail about the law and order in the province, lack of police officers, progress and efficiently so far made by the police and assured the committee that the NWFP police would do its duties with full devotion and honestly round the clock.
