The federal government has asked all the provincial governments to introduce a coeducation system at the primary level and only women teachers be appointed in the primary schools under the new education policy because it was not possible for the government to establish primary schools separately for boys and girls at primary level.
It is officially learnt here on Sunday. Sources said that federal government was framing a new education policy, which would promise maximum opportunities to the women in the education sector as they turned out to be better teachers than the males. He said the syllabus had been revised in line with internationally accepted standards.
He said the revision would free the syllabus from duplication and biases found in the previous one. Provincial governments of NWFP and Balochistan have reportedly rejected the education policy framed by Javed Ashraf Qazi Federal Education Minister and out rightly replied that coeducation cannot be introduced in these provinces.
Education ministry had demanded an increase in its allocations for education reforms, adding that the annual Higher Education Commission (HEC) budget was much higher than that of the education ministry and urged students to choose science and technology subjects as they were directly needed to grapple with current and future challenges.
The ministry has also asked students to be confident and balanced to make a positive contribution to the community and the nation at large.
