The Markazi Jamaat Ahl-e-Hadith Pakistan on Sunday urged the government to take pragmatic steps for curbing the burgeoning sectarian violence in the country.
Addressing a press conference here, the central leaders of the Ahl-e-Hadith, including Allama Zubair Ahmed Zahir, Senior Vice President, Abdul Ghaffar Shah Bokhari, Mohammad Younus Qurreshi, President Islamabad Chapter and Siddiq Masood Sheikh, President, Rawalpindi Chapter, urged the government to curb extremism and sectarian violence to avoid any major loss to the country.
They said that sectarian violence is a major challenge, which could prove fatal for the safety and security of the country.
They urged the President, the Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League President Shujaat Husain to protect minority groups in the country.
"If the government is interested to control the sectarian menace, it has to shun the discriminatory supervision of the certain religious sects," they remarked.
They also recalled that extremism and sectarian violence is currently taking place across the country, particularly in Islamabad, Parachinar and Karachi, saying that "it is an open challenge" to the writ of the government.
"Such elements, who are involved in attacking the mosques of other sects should be given exemplary punished," they said.
These leaders said that the government should not take light the alarming extremism and sectarian trend to avoid any major loss to national integrity.
They also alleged that people of some other religious sects were attacking mosques of Ahl-e-Hadith in Karachi, and lamented that the government did not take any action against the attackers.
