The leader of ten-member Sudanese trade delegation, Hisham SalehEldin Shazali Ahmed has said that the purpose of their visit is to boost two-way trade and invited Pakistani investors to Sudan. Addressing members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), he said that Sudan offers best investment opportunities to foreign investors in the region.
Regarding economic policies, he said that Sudan has recently promulgated investment act and allowed five-year tax holiday for investors. This period is extendable depending on nature of investment. Besides this, Sudan Duty Free Zone provides another opportunity to invest in this area.
Replying to a question about law and order, the delegation chief informed that Sudan has become a very peaceful country after signing peace agreement some time back. The country is paying more attention to infrastructure development and improving every sector of life. Sudan receiving investors from all over the world including Pakistan, he added.
About Pakistan, he said that besides some small companies three to four big groups are busy in construction of five-star hotels, oil exploration, construction of pharmaceutical and cement plants etc.
About imports of pharmaceutical products in Sudan, he said that exporters are required to be registered in Sudan and pharmaceutical products have to pass quality test. About his company, he said that Danfodio Company is one of the biggest companies of Sudan and has its offices in many countries including India, Germany, China etc The company examining possibilities of opening its office in Pakistan.
The company is also interested in to produce skilled workers, establish joint venture units in agro-based industry, petroleum sector, pharmaceutical, solar energy, transportation and infrastructure development etc.
Welcoming the guests, president KCCI, Majyd Aziz pointed out that the two-way trade is less than 50 million dollars and emphasised the need to boost trade between the two countries. He assured the delegation that KCCI would provide all possible assistance to Sudanese companies to boost trade and investment.
