A 4-day training workshop on accountancy faculty in Pakistan, organised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), concluded with thoughts on how can faculty excel in their role and discharge their responsibilities efficiently.
In the opening speech, ACCA's commitment to facilitate the local accountancy faculty in improving their teaching skills and imparting the modern qualification successfully was reiterated.
Rhys Johnson, who has over 15-year working experience in the field of accountancy education, facilitated the workshop. He stressed upon the importance of being prepared before delivering a lecture. He said that lecture plans and lecturer's study text available on the internet were all very useful resources, which must be used while preparing lectures.
Rhys advised the lecturers to be patient with the students. He suggested that faculty should put themselves in the student's position and then imagine how they could put their point across effectively.
He further said that the faculty members should become role models for their students. By being punctual in their classes, meeting deadlines and acting courteously they could be able to inculcate the same habits in their students.
Rhys also talked about the modern teaching techniques provided by ACCA to the faculty. As many as 58 accountancy faculty members attended the training workshop, who appreciated the ACCA efforts for providing opportunity to learn from the experiences of their foreign counterparts.
