The Board of Investment (BoI) is planning to develop a database of local investors who intend to establish joint venture projects with foreign investors. Accordingly, the BOI has requested trade bodies to advise their members to submit proposals for joint venture projects so that it could find suitable matching partners for the projects.
BOI has been encouraged by a number of foreign delegations, which are visiting the Board showing interest in joint venture projects with local investors.
According to BOI, during the period from July to Feb, 2007, foreign investment flow has increased to the level of about $4.6 billion. During the last year FDI amounted to $3.52 billion and only $323 million in 2000-2001. This increasing trend of inflow of foreign investment reflects confidence of the foreign investors in the policies of the government and the stability of the economy of Pakistan.
