Like other parts of country, protest day was also observed here on Friday against a rocket attack on the house of Amir Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (JUI) Maulana Fazalur Reham.
A big protest meeting was held at Jamia Madina Islamia in Gulshan-e-Iqbal which was addressed by prominent religious scholars including Deputy Secretary General JUI Qari Sher Afzal Khan, provincial Naib Amir Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Haji Mohammad Idrees,Naseeruddin and Maulana Abdur Rehman Farooqui.
The JUI leaders alleged that attack on the house of Maulana Fazalur Rehman was carried out on the behest of the government in a bid to create riots across the country.
They said that the government should remember that Maulana Fazalur Rehman enjoyed a huge popularity in the tribal areas of North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Balochistan and the people of this region were well aware of strategies to counter such attacks. The JUI leaders said that these people were silent and not reacting due to tolerance and wisdom adopted by Maulana FazalurRehman.
The meeting was also addressed by Syed Imran Shah, MuftiKifayatullah, Syed Akram Shah Sheerazi, Maulana Saleemullah Khan,Maulana Hussain Ahmed and Ahsanullah. Meanwhile, the JUI activists took out a rally in Mithi town of Tharparkar district against the attack on the house of Maulana Fazalur Rehman.
Addressing the rally, Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam (JUI) Tharparkar leader Maulana Mohammad Anwar Soomro said that Maulana Fazalur Rehman is a great religious leader and attack on his house should be condemned.
