Information Secretary Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Women Wing Sindh MPA Shazia Marri vehemently condemned the brutal behaviour of members of the city district government who manhandled opposition members on Thursday evening.
Talking particularly about the atrocity committed by a treasury member who hit his female colleague with a belt, Marri termed it as "shameful and abominable." She expressed her disgust over such people being allowed in August houses.
Such behaviour proved the government's truly bigoted stance on women and laid to rest all the governments claims about 'enlightened moderation' and women emancipation, said Marri in a statement on Friday.
Shazia Marri said that the women of Pakistan had an indomitable spirit and they stood strong and resilient, despite being victims of abuse, injustice and discrimination. This misogynistic government cannot break the will of the women of Pakistan, no matter how many sleazy savages it lets into the Assemblies, masquerading as members, she said.
Marri challenged the government that if it was actually genuine in its tall claims, then the barbarian who hit his colleagues should not only be removed from his office and made to publicly apologise to all women, he should also be tried in a Court of Law.
Shazia Marri expressed her solidarity with Ms Farida, the councillor who sustained injuries at the hands of a brute colleague, and with all other women who were abused in an August house where their sanctity should rightly have been preserved.
