The board of directors of Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited met on Thursday and approved the un-audited accounts of the company for the first quarter ended on March 31. The highlights of the financial results are as under:

The plant remained shut for 13 days during the first quarter of 2007, due to gas load shedding. Consequently, the company produced 107,023 mt of urea as against 118,698 mt for the comparable period last year.
Accordingly, capacity utilisation for the plant was 96 percent as against 107 percent last period. During the quarter under review, the company sold 76,710 mt of urea as against 91,950 mt for the corresponding period last year due to paucity of funds with the farmers.
However, the market share of the company for the period under review stood at 9 percent as against 8 percent for the corresponding period last year. Earnings per share for the quarter, including the share of income from associate stood at Rs 4.27 as compared to Rs 5.09 for the same period last year.-PR
