NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has reiterated his government's resolve that no hurdle in the way of uplift activities would be tolerated, saying all the developmental projects would be completed keeping in view the overall national interest.
He was talking to Managing Director, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Rashid Lone, who called on him at Frontier House in Peshawar on Friday. Durrani said that the life attempt on SNGPL GM Husnain Mohammad was a conspiracy of some anti-social elements, who wanted to hamper the developmental projects in the province, adding a few miscreants could not succeed in their nefarious designs and would be dealt with iron hands.
He said when this awful incident took place he directed the law enforcement agencies to hunt down the culprits behind the attack at earliest and book them. The chief minister on this occasion took strong note of the mistreatment of SNGPL officials by some miscreants in Southern districts and directed the concerned officials to take stern action against the elements involved.
Durrani said that his government would not let the uplift projects hindered by miscreants. Referring to non-payment of gas bills in some areas of the province, he expressed anger over the issue and directed the formation of a committee comprising MPAs Malak Zafar Azam, Mian Nisar Gul and Shah Abdul Aziz to look into the matter and resolve it permanently.
He stressed upon the people of southern districts to ensure in-time payment of gas bills and help the gas officials in completing the ongoing projects in these areas within the stipulated period.
Durrani said that the public representatives were bound to serve the people of their respective areas, adding the federal government should provide funds to the public representatives without any discrimination. He said that the government had provided funds to the opposition, minority and women members of the house without any favouritism as his government believed in uniform development of the province.
He disclosed that an additional amount of Rs 100 million had been released for provision of gas facility to the southern districts of the province.
MD Rashid Lone briefed the chief minister in detail about the progress in gas provision projects to the southern districts. Other officials of SNGPL, including Momin Khan and Waqas were also present on the occasion.
Lone appreciated the chief minister for early release of funds for execution of gas projects in the province and assured that his department in co-operation with district governments and the concerned people would complete the ongoing projects successfully.
