The government is implementing a huge development programme for the expeditious uplift of major urban centres of Punjab. Faisalabad would emerge as a modern, planned and fully developed industrial and commercial centre of Pakistan within next couple of years, said Federal Minister for Textile Industry Chaudhry Mushtaq Ali Cheema.
Inaugurating construction of Abdullahpur-Jhal Khanuanna Road, he said that Punjab government has allocated huge funds to improve the basic infrastructure facilities and a marked improvement has been witnessed in the city due to the completion of new road and sewerage projects. Similarly, many more projects are in the execution phase while government was conceiving new projects to completely transform Faisalabad into an ultra modern city.
Addressing the function City District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef said that a 1.25 kilometre long service road from Abdullahpur Chowk to Satiana Road Chowk would also be constructed while main road along canal would be widened from 18 feet to 36 feet.
This project would cost Rs 43.5 million to facilitate the vehicular traffic from Jhal to Abdullahpur. He further said that an alternative project of flyover was also being prepared to accommodate the increasing traffic load on this important road. The Nazim said that the government has approved funds of Rs 2 billion for the educational institutions and out of it city government has already received Rs 160 million.
