Chairman, AJK Accountability Bureau Major General Tariq Bashir (Retd) here on Wednesday handed over a cheque of Rs 8,64,000 to Rana Sultan, Post Master General Northern Areas and AJK, says an official press release issued by the AJK Ehtesab Bureau.
The aforesaid amount was recovered from the accused postmaster Masood Ahmed, who deposited the said money to the Accountability Bureau after entering into plea bargain under section 28 of Ehtesab Bureau Act.
The Accountability Bureau has arrested the accused Masood Ahmed, post master time of a branch post office Ratta, Dadyal sub division of Mirpur district, on the charges of embezzlement and misappropriation from the post office saving account.
The post master general appreciated the efforts of the officers and staff of the AJK Accountability Bureau and extended gratitude of the Chairman Accountability Bureau on behalf of the postal service of Pakistan, the press release said.
It may be mentioned here, the accused Masood Ahmed, post master Ratta, Dadayal had fraudulently drawn a total of Rs 8.64 lakh in different time from the post office saving account of a Britain-based Kashmiri expatriate Muhammad Sabir during his stay abroad.
Later on, the report of Divisional Superintendent Postal Service, the Accountability Bureau arrested the accused under the relevant law. The accused later through plea bargain with the Accountability Bureau deposited the money to the Accountability Bureau's which was handed over to the competent authority of the Post Service of Pakistan today.
