Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has not yet taken any decision regarding increase in load shedding hours in its region. Chief Executive Iesco Brigadier Shahbaz Azam said this in a meeting held here to review current power situation and new load shedding schedule at Iesco headquarters.
He said the load shedding schedule is likely to remain unchanged during May 15-21 as no such extraordinary increase has been recorded in electricity demand and in weather condition. Brigadier Shahbaz said in order to give relief to the consumers the company has decided to start half-hour load shedding instead of one-hour load shedding.
He added now the total two-hour load shedding has been divided into four times and there will be maximum half-hour load shedding in one time some circles of Iesco region including Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He appealed the citizens to cooperate with the Iesco in power conservation and asked to avoid misuse of electricity keeping in view the present power shortage.
He thanked the commercial consumers including steel and cement plants, Capital Development Authority (CDA) and other organisations for their co-operation in peak hours and appealed the business community to close their shops and markets till 9pm to overcome power shortage problem. He said the company can reduce the load shedding timing with the support of its consumers by avoiding unnecessary use of air conditioners, fans and other electrical appliances.
