Sindh High Court on Thursday issued notice to federal interior secretary, Sindh chief secretary, home secretary and others for May 22 on contempt application filed by bar representatives alleging they deliberately violated SHC order with regard to providing security to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry during his Karachi visit on May 12.
SHC's division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Ali Saind Dino Metlo issued notice while hearing contempt application in chamber, filed by Abrar Hassan, President Sindh High Court Bar Association, Muhammad Yasin Azad, member Pakistan Bar Council, Salahuddin Gandapur, member Sindh Bar Council and Iftikhar Javeed Qazi, President Karachi Bar Association. It also issued notices to deputy attorney general and advocate general Sindh.
Bar leaders submitted that SHC on May 11, 2007 on a petition directed federal and provincial government to ensure foolproof security of CJP, who was invited by SHCBA to attend golden jubilee ceremony of Supreme Court on May 12. The direction was issued on petition of Pakistan International Human Rights Organisation.
