Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that all those living in Sindh, particularly in Karachi, are brothers and those who want to involve them in ethnic strife will be thwarted. He stated this while talking to the media after a meeting with NWFP MPA Zar Gul Khan and District Nazim Kohat Gohar Saifullah at the Chief Minister House here Thursday.
Dr Arbab said that Karachi is the capital of Sindh province where people have come from other provinces in search of their livelihood. He said Karachi is the city of all and everyone should live here with love. "We consider all our brothers and as Chief Minister I treat them equally". He told the media that MPA Zar Gul Khan and Nazim Kohat Gohar Saifullah have come to Karachi on invitation of Muslim League. They will meet here their Pakhtoon brothers.
Dr Arbab said in Karachi, attempts were made to give ethnic colour to May 12 incidents while our effort is to reduce hatred and that people start living like brothers.
With government's efforts, normalcy has returned within two days but those who want to sabotage peace efforts will not be allowed to succeed, he added. He said Karachi is an important industrial hub of the country and its closure for two days brings big damage to national economy. In the past the economy was destroyed with such sort of incidents. But now the country is on the path of economic progress and any conspiracy to ruin it will be foiled. He made responsible political parties for whatever happened on May 12.
