The Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Committee (IPCC) will take up vital issues in its meeting scheduled to be held in Quetta soon. Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Co-ordination Salim Saifullah Khan told APP on Thursday that IPCC, formed for forging further harmony among the federating units by removing their grievances, has been performing successfully.
The upcoming meeting would be a step forward in this direction, he said, adding, random meetings in four provinces have added to the confidence of the federating units. Issues pertaining to backwardness of Balochistan and NWFP provinces, division of national resources, water royalty claims and provincial autonomy are expected to be taken up for discussion.
So far, about 14 items had been discussed during the previous IPCC's meetings with important decisions including fishery rights, job quota for Balochistan, etc Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Co-ordination Salim Saifullah Khan will chair the meeting.
Instead of provincial chief ministers, ministers for provincial co-ordination have been given representation along with other concerned officials. Provincial Co-ordination Ministers Chaudhry Zaheer Ahmed Khan from Punjab, Sohrab Khan Serki from Sindh, Maulana Fazl-e-Ali Haqqani from NWFP and Sher Jan Baloch from Balochistan will represent their respective provinces.
