Director Food Rana Saeed Ahmed has said that 93 percent revised wheat procurement target for Faisalabad region has been achieved, as food department procures about 3,000 metric tons of wheat on daily basis.
Talking to APP here on Friday, he said that previous wheat procurement target was 378,000 metric tons which was revised to 403,000 metric tons due to the bumper crop. He hoped that new target would be achieved soon.
Giving details of district wise procurement, Rana Saeed said that 90,381 metric tons of wheat was purchased against the target of 95,000 metric tons set for Faisalabad. "Likewise, for Toba Tek Singh, we have procured 72,292 metric tons against the target of 80,000 metric tons", he said.
About Jhang, he said that 212,455 metric tons have been purchased against the target of 228,000 metric tons. He further said that food department was fully focussed on safe storage of wheat procured during this season.
