Indian Defence Minister AK Antony said on Saturday that the composite dialogue had changed the climate of India's ties with Pakistan for the better. He was speaking at the Second Plenary Session on 'China and India: Building International Stability' of the 6th Asia Security Conference here.
"With regard to bridging our differences, including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, we know what has not worked in the past. The challenge is to devise more imaginative approaches," he said. The Defence Minister said that he could not emphasise enough on India's stakes in the emergence of a stable and moderate Pakistan, at peace with itself as much as with its neighbours.'
With all our neighbours, India was prepared to go the extra mile to encourage greater regional co-operation for mutual benefit. The recent SAARC Summit in New Delhi was a testimony of India's sincerity in this regard. India had taken a number of policy initiatives - both bilateral and regional - that would put India's ties with immediate neighbours on a much better footing, the Minister added.
