Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) has expressed displeasure over the federal budget 2007-08 as "it has brought no relief to the country's second largest industry".
PTA Chairman, S.M Naseem, in a statement to the press issued here on Thursday, regretted that no proposal of leather industry had been included in the budget.
He said that the new budget with no relief and incentives to the tanners is likely to give a setback to the country's leather exports. This may not only put government's export target in jeopardy but make it hard for the exporters to continue business smoothly. The chairman hoped that Islamabad would help the leather industry and encourage exporters in the trade policy, which is due shortly.-PR
