The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued contempt notices to General Manager and divisional Superintendent Railways Rawalpindi Division and directed him to submit his written explanation within fifteen days.
The court passed these orders during the course of hearing of a petition filed by a ticket collector Iqbal Azam who had approached the court against him for ignoring his due promotion. The court had directed the respondent to act in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Railways and promote the petitioner and eight other collectors accordingly.
