Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation (PJJF) in collaboration with Punjab government is hosting the 2nd Asian Ju-Jitsu championship in Lahore in November this year. This was stated by Punjab Minister for Education and President Punjab Ju-Jitsu Association, Mian Imran Masood while addressing a news conference here on Monday.
Imran Masood maintained that Ju-Jitsu is mother sport of Martial Arts. He added that provincial government is making concerted efforts for promotion of this game at grass root level.
He stated that the game has been introduced at college level and Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has given special grant of Rs one million to promote this game. He averred that the government would take all out steps to promote this game.
Talking about the Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship, Imran said that Punjab Chief Minister is organising secretary of this moot in which around 800 players from as many as 35 countries will participate. Punjab Minister for Tourism, Mian Aslam Iqbal said on the occasion that Tourism Department would extend all out support to promote this game.
Asian Ju-Jitsu Belt Wrestling Federation President, Khalil Ahmad Khan said on the occasion that Pakistan has to defend its title of the Asian Champion in the event, as Pakistani young players won the 1st Asian Championship in November, 2006 at Almaty, Kazakhstan by winning 6 Gold, l Silver and 05 Bronze medals. He stated that the 2nd Championship has been allocated by the Asian Governing Body to Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation.
