The global warming had its real colour in Karachi affecting trade in commodities despite by and large there was no discrepancy seen in supplies during the week ended on June 23, 2007. However, rich varieties were stated to be selling on the higher side.
Irri Sindh 6 low type gained Rs 30 to Rs 1620 while better type rpse by Rs 40 to Rs 1650. Irri white rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1375 and better type was quoted at Rs 1400. Cotton cakes low type was unchanged at Rs 400 while the other type lost Rs 40 to Rs 560. Wheat with bardana gained Rs 5 to Rs 1200 while the other type was quoted at Rs 1215.
On Jodia Bazar, big cardamom rose by Rs 300 to Rs 10,200. Cloves shed Rs 400 to Rs 10,000, dry ginger from China closed lower by Rs 200 to Rs 3600, dry ginger from Ethiopia rose by Rs 200 to Rs 2000 and sago ended higher by Rs 40 to Rs 1300.
On Tuesday gram Australia shed Rs 50 to Rs 2800 while the other type was quoted at Rs 2950, gram garda Punjab moved lower by Rs 100 to Rs 2500 while the other type was quoted at Rs 2650. Dal gram down by Rs 50 to Rs 3150 and the other type was quoted at Rs 3250. Beetle chana I shed same amount to Rs 2800 while other type quoted at Rs 2900, beetle 50x50 shed Rs 50 to Rs 2675 and other type was quoted at Rs 2700, dal beetle lost same amount to Rs 2675 and other type was quoted at Rs 2700.
Bajra shed Rs 25 to Rs 1300 and the better type was quoted at Rs 1400. Gur low type lost Rs 100 to Rs 1900, other type was quoted at Rs 2800. Cotton cakes gained Rs 20 to Rs 380 while the other type stayed put at Rs 400. Wheat with bardana old and new rose by Rs 5 to Rs 1205 and other type was quoted at Rs 1220.
On Jodia Bazar sodium sulphate ended higher by Rs 3.10 to Rs 13. Formic acid Germany rose by Re 1 to Rs 58, oxalic acid during closed higher by Rs 12 to Rs 64, citric acid China moved higher by Rs 7 to Rs 58. Petroleum jelly sulphonic acid soft was quoted at Rs 83.60, sulphonic acid hard (DDBSA) moved higher by Rs 3 to Rs 85.
PVA Japan closed up by Rs 44 to Rs 209. Sitara caustic soda flakes rose by Re 1 to Rs 34. Rangolite C (per pound) from China rose by Rs 4 to Rs 46, and same item grom Germany ended higher by Rs 2 to Rs 72. Hydro sulphate China 88 pc rose by Rs 7 to Rs 51, and from Germany it rose by Rs 10 to Rs 77. Acetic acid Taiwan gained Rs 13 to Rs 81, and Korea rose by Rs 10 to Rs 77 hydrogen peroxide 35 pc Taiwan moved higher by Rs 2 to Rs 31 and Korea 5 pc quoted at Rs 30.80.
On Wednesday masoor Canada low type was up Rs 80 to Rs 3450, better type up Rs 130 to Rs 3500, masoor dal quoted higher at Rs 4100. Wheat old and new with bardana rose by Rs 5 to Rs 1210 while better type was quoted at Rs 1225. Cotton cakes lost Rs 10 to Rs 380 and better type was quoted at Rs 385.
On Thursday on Jodia Bazar jute goods twine (per Kg) 20x3 brown moved down by Rs 2 to Rs 46, 16x3 CRT/Indus closed lower by Rs 2 to Rs 46, and 40x2 brown lost Re 1 to Rs 43.
Elsewhere barley Sindh and Mardan gamed Rs 25 to Rs 1575 the other type was quoted at Rs 1725, cotton cakes rose by Rs 50 to Rs 450. The commodity market saw some variations at Jodia Bazar where milk powder showed phenomenal rise in prices. Euro gold rose by Rs 300 to 6700. Corolas too rose by Rs 400 to Rs 6400. Unsweetened Kings of King, quoted at Rs 2225. On closing day of the week there were shap price fluctuations particularly on grsm side.
