The Young Leaders' Conference-2007 commenced here at local hotel amidst great fanfare and enthusiasm. The six-day conference is an annual event, organised by the School of Leadership (SoL), Karachi.
The conference offers dynamic experimental education that focuses on leadership development along with the opportunity to learn from exchange of ideas with national and international top business leaders, government representatives, diplomats, policy-makers, lobbyists, journalists, and academicians The first day of the conference was sponsored by Ufone and participated by its top management
Addressing the ceremony, Ufone CEO Mubashir Naqvi said that youth should discover new horizons of thought, thus opening fresh avenues of global exchange and progress. Other partners and stakeholders from the media, corporate and government sector as well as 300 energetic participants, between the ages of 18 to 24, representing all the regions of the country, graced the occasion.
After the inauguration ceremony, the guests shared their success stories with participants in groups. Rumaisa Reem, a former YLC graduate and 22-year-0ld entrepreneur, is heading the project.
The conference is designed to inspire, educate and motivate students by giving them the opportunity to explore cultural differences first hand: identify and face tough challenges; build confidence; stretch and expand capacity and enhance decision-making skills.
The first three days of the conference will be held at the hotel, in which participants will go through rigorous debates on contemporary issues of international and national importance and self-development and capacity building activities.
