Local journalists, traders, and activists of political parties staged a demonstration as a protest against the killing of a journalist in Lal Masjid incident and injuring another six photographers/camera men, demolishing the part of building of Daily Khabrain in Karachi describing it a high handedness of the city administration.
The demo was staged in front of the Multan Press Club under the leadership of its President Shakil Anjum, Traders Chamber Chairman Khawaja Muhammad Shafiq, PPP leaders Khalid Qureshi, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, M.Salim Raja, Tariq Raza Khan, Manzoor Qadri, Nafees Ahmed Ansari, MPA; Akhtar Butt, and Allama Khalid Mehmood Nadeem.
Later, they walked to Nawan Shehr and demanded of the government not to harass the journalists and print-media and let them serve the nation in peaceful and free manners.
The participants chanted slogans the against MQM and the city government of Karachi. Railway Road Anjuman Tajiran, Tehrik-i-Insaf on Wednesday organised a joint demonstration against the killing of 13 innocent people and injuring a large number of citizens in Lal Masjid and Jamia Hasfa incident.
The demo was led by Dr Mazhar Nawaz Khan president, Traders Organisation; Ex-Nazim of Union Council-38 (Multan) Shaikh Amjad Pervez, and Multan PTI Vice-President Dr Javed Iqbal Kanwal. They said, "Exchange of firing between the law-enforcement agencies and students was unjustified and the government should take step of "Amnesty" to save precious lives of the people."
Dr Javed Iqbal said: "Operation on Hafas and Faridia seminary was regrettable decision that the two groups has attempted cross firing inside the capital of the country and termed the event a conspiracy of the government to divert the public opinion from the floods, Supreme Court's proceedings and decisions and the upcoming APC in London".
