Leaders of different opposition parties and a delegation of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Thursday left here for London to participate in the all parties conference (APC) convened by the PML-N and scheduled from July 7.
Those who left for London include MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad, JI leader, Syed Munawar Hassan, JUP leader Qari Zawaar Bahadur, PML-N Punjab President Sardar Zulifqar Ali Khosa, PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah, Afzal Tarar, office-bearers of LHCBA and others. Activists of MMA and PML-N were present at the Lahore Airport where they bade farewell to their leaders amid slogans against the government.
Talking to newsmen before his departure, PML-N Punjab President, Sardar Zulifqar Ali Khosa said the PPP chairperson was presently staying in London and there is possibility of her participation in the APC.
He said all the opposition parties would consider matters concerning re-election of General Pervez Musharraf from present assemblies, pre-poll rigging and other matters of national importance. The opposition parties would also discuss the option of launching a movement against the present regime, he said. The PML-N leader was of the view that the APC would prove milestone in the country's politics.
LHCBA Secretary Sarfraz Ahmad Cheema said he would inform the APC about the lawyers' struggle for independence of judiciary and reinstatement of Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. 'We want restoration of 1973 constitution in its original shape and true democracy in the country', he added.
