England fast bowler James Anderson has been fined 50 percent of his match fee after shoulder-barging West Indies batsman Runako Morton during the second one-day international at Edgbaston.
Anderson, 24, appeared to deliberately walk in to Morton at the end of an over late in West Indies' innings on Wednesday, sparking an angry reaction from his opponent who gestured with his bat before umpire Brian Jerling intervened. The ill-feeling continued when Morton was out during a match West Indies won by 61 runs to level the three-match series at 1-1 ahead of Saturday's finale at Trent Bridge.
Both players appeared before match referee Mike Procter after stumps at Edgbaston and, while Anderson was punished, Morton was found not guilty of breaking the International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct. Anderson's 10-over spell went for 78 runs, his most expensive one-day international return. After the match, England captain Paul Collingwood said: "I don't mind the boys getting stuck if they need to get stuck in."
Anderson's fellow England quick Stuart Broad was reprimanded for wearing a white 'skins' under-shirt beneath his coloured one-day kit, in a contravention of an ICC protocol.
