Sindh Governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has called upon the KESC to carry out its short and long term plans, particularly with reference to power generation programme, on a fast track basis.
"The problems in next summer must be lesser than the ones faced this summer" he emphasised and added that work being done on all the projects must be visible to people. He was addressing a meeting held at Governor House here on Saturday in which various power generation issues of the corporation came under consideration.
Those attending the meeting included Chief Secretary Shakil Durrani, Principal Secretary Saleem Khan and others besides John Kim, CEO of a South Korean Engineering Company. John Kim while showing interest in the setting up of a power generation plant in Karachi said that he wants to make investment on BOT basis to set up a 1,000 MW plant.
He informed that the company could supply 47 MW furnace oil operated plants in 11 months, which can be installed immediately. The governor directed that installation of these plants in industrial units should be considered. He asked the corporation to sort out details with the Korean company at the earliest. The chief secretary informed the meeting that provinces, too, could generate energy.
