Bangladesh Women Entrepreneur Association (WEA) President Sabrina Islam has said that the purpose of the visit is to explore market for Bangladeshi products Leader of women entrepreneurs trade delegation of Bangladesh and to see which items can be imported from Pakistan.
Speaking at a meeting of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Thursday night, Sabrina Islam, who is leading a Bangladeshi women entrepreneurs'' delegation, said the delegation would discuss ways to improve interaction between women entrepreneurs of the both the countries and incase two-way trades. She said that Bangladesh women entrepreneur also interested in joint ventures with their Pakistan counterparts in Bangladesh and in Pakistan.
Replying to a question, she said that macro credit played vital role in development of women entrepreneur in general and rural women entrepreneurs in particular in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Saquib Ali, speaking on the occasion, said that around 10 million women had been benefited from the micro finance in rural areas of Bangladesh and managed to establish their own small businesses. He said women''s wages was a big issue in Bangladesh, and added that the issue would soon be resolved.
He said that Bangladesh investors had started establishing weaving, dying and spinning units to meet the growing demand of Bangladesh garments in the international market. Speaking on the occasion, representative of International Labour Organisation (ILO) Dany Pawal said that the ILO had been working on a number of major programmes in Pakistan and Bangladesh to eliminate poverty and create jobs opportunities.
He said besides these projects, the ILO was also working to eliminate child labour and enroll them to schools. Welcoming the guests, KCCI President Majyd Aziz expressed his concern over meagre quantum of trade among the SAARC countries.
He also stressed the need for learning from Bangladesh experience of macro finance and applying the same in Pakistan for development of small and cottage industries. He announced that a trade delegation of KCCI women entrepreneurs would soon visit Bangladesh.
