Minister for Bait-ul-Maal Punjab, Chaudhry Muhammad Ijaz Shafi has said that Bait-ul-Maal department also provides grant to the NGOs for the launching of education, health and other public welfare institutions project. He expressed these views here on Tuesday, while presiding over monthly progress meeting regarding distribution of grant to the deserving people.
The minister said that strict monitoring system has been evolved to ensure transparency in the grant money given by the Bait-ul-Maal department to the NGOs and others, whereas the whole system of the department is being computerised to make the fund distribution system transparent, he added.
He said that Bait-ul-Maal department has distributed Rs 25 million among 4056 deserving people during last month through district Bait-ul-Maal committees. The meeting was informed that during last month Rs 8.4 million was distributed among 2121 destitute peoples as out right grant, rupees seven million to 796 students as stipend, Rs 2.75 million marriage grant among 533 girls, Rs 2.1 million for medical treatment among 268 deserving ill people whereas, Rs 3.1 million provided to 17 NGOs for the launching of social welfare projects.
