The rupee-dollar official parity rates moved both ways in the local currency market on Friday, dealers said. The rupee gained five paisa against dollar in the interbank market for buying and selling at Rs 60.39 and Rs 60.41, respectively.
In the world markets, the dollar hovered near a record low against euro on Friday on lingering worries about the US housing market, while the Australian and New Zealand dollars gained as investors flocked to higher-yielding currencies.
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee shed five paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 60.90 and Rs 61.95, they said.
Meanwhile, the rupee lost 15 paisa against euro for buying and selling at Rs 83.65 and Rs 83.75, dealers said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee lost 10 paisa against dollar on Lahore currency markets on Friday. Dealers said that dollar's trading commenced at Rs 60.85 and Rs 60.90 as its buying and selling rates, respectively. As a result of expansion in demand, the dollar kept moving up and finally closed at Rs 60.90 and Rs 61.00 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 60.80 and Rs 60.90 of Thursday, they said.
Likewise, the British pound was purchased at Rs 124.40 and was sold at Rs 124.70 as compared to Rs 124.30 and Rs 124.60 of Thursday, dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe any change in the last trading hours and closed at Rs 60.90 (buying) and Rs 61 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 123.30 (buying) and Rs 123.70 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not observe any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 123.30 (buying) and Rs 123.70 (selling).
