Inspector General Police Sindh, Ziau-ul-Hasan Khan on Saturday issued directives to Sindh Police for special security in the province in the light of decisions taken at a high level meeting held at Governor House where strategy was chalked out in the wake of bomb blasts carried out by anti-state elements in certain parts of the country.
The IGP called for strict vigil on all entry and exit points of Karachi as well as suspected people, vehicles and articles and said that help of sniffing dogs should also be obtained with the co-operation of Sindh Rangers.
He directed that snap checking be conducted throughout the province by officials themselves so that no inconvenience is caused to people. He said constant liaison be maintained with hospitals and trauma centers to meet challenges of subversive activities.
He gave suggestions to police officers for taking necessary steps to meet security requirements at various shopping centers, important buildings and organisations and posh hotels while Foreigner Security Cell was asked to take special security steps for foreign nationals. In his directives Zia-ul-Hasan said that electronic walk through gates should essentially be used for participants of all major events.
The directives given to traffic police called for taking action without any discrimination against vehicles with colour glasses, fancy number plates or without number plates.
IG Sindh pointed out that government has banned display of arms throughout the province and personnel in uniform alone can carry weapons. He said immediate action be taken if any other person is found carrying arms.
He appealed to the people of Sindh to immediately contact Madadgar 15 or nearest police station or security man on duty, should they spot any suspected person or vehicles. He said they can also communicate the information to Central Police Office at emergency control No 921-3081 and 241-0900.
