Punjab Communication and Works (C&W) Minister, Chaudhry Zaheer ud Din Khan has said work on the eight projects worth Rs 4.17 billion aiming at widening and building roads under the Annual Development Programme is in full swing.
Chairing a meeting to review the pace of work on these development schemes here on Wednesday, he said three out of the eight schemes would be completed in the current fiscal year.
He said that the work on the Lahore-Wahga Road, the Barki Gauindi Road, an over-head bridge on the Sui-e-Asal level crossing, Khaira distributary to Khana Road, Quaid-e-Azam Campus service road, Qila Sattar Shah Road, Defence Road and Canal View Housing Scheme to Multan Road was in progress.
The meeting also revealed that the department had spent Rs 1.80 billion on those roads till June 2007 and in addition Rs 635.7 million would to be spent in the current fiscal year.
Punjab C&W Secretary Muhammad Ahsan, Additional Secretary (Technical) Javed Lodhi, Deputy Secretary High Ways Younis Aziz and Chief Engineer Highways (North and South) also attended the meeting.
