A Bahrain society raised about BD 16,000 to help flood disaster victims in Pakistan. A cheque for $42,000 (BD 15,876) was presented by Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE) to the Pakistan Disaster Management Relief Fund.
The devastating flood in Balochistan and Sindh last month killed nearly 300 people and displaced another 300,000, depriving them of their homes and livelihoods.
More than 8,000 people from Balochistan are working in Bahrain and many have lost their homes in their country. Pakistan Ambassador Iftikhar Hussain Kazmi received cheque from BSE President Mohammed Al Sayed on behalf of fund. Kazmi said a disaster fund would soon be opened at Bahraini branches of the United Bank and the Habib Bank.
