The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has decided to hold the trials to select fresh talent between July 29 and 30 in Britain's South Yorkshire.
PFF President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat said, "We are taking seriously the next year's 11th South Asian Games where our U-23 team will go all out for hat-tricks of gold, besides 7th SAFF Championship 2007 [Sri Lanka and the Maldives] and Second AFC Challenge Cup 2008 [Chinese Taipei]. Several talented players of Pakistan origin are living in European and South American Nations and we are well prepared to use their skill for our coming assignments in international soccer circuit. We will continue to dig out football players of Pakistani heritage for the betterment of Pakistani soccer."
He said the trials, first of their kind, were seen as an opportunity in identifying talent and skill among the British Asian and Pakistani origin youths and giving them an opportunity to present themselves as serious contenders for nomination towards playing in Pakistan's domestic football and to represent various Pakistani teams.
The PFF has asked Coordinator Muhammad Aref to bring maximum participation of players of various ages interested in wearing national football colour of Pakistan in the future.
Millmoor is the official venue of the Rotherham United FC, an English football club from Rotherham in South Yorkshire, which plays in the Football League's fourth tier- League-II. Saleh said he hoped the two-day trials would be successful to infuse more energy to Pakistan U-19, Olympic and national team.
AsiaEurope Sports Group Founder and Director Majid Lavji said the trials would open with no age restriction. Scouts from around England could also take part to find Asian talent to recruit. The trials, under British-based coaches, will take two days - a selection process by coaches with selected players on Sunday attending more trials on Monday.
