The Taiwan dollar fell on Friday as foreign investors sold a record amount of stocks during an equity market slide, although central bank intervention in the last minute capped its losses. The Taiwan dollar ended at T$32.861 to the US dollar, weaker than the previous close of T$32.840.
The local currency had opened stronger at T$32.706. Volume on the main Taipei Forex Inc exchange was heavy at US $1.418 billion, up from US $873 million a day earlier.
