HP today announced the appointment of Rizwan Alam as the first Country Manager for HP Pakistan, with immediate effect. Previously, HP managed its Pakistan operations as part of Asia Emerging Countries (AEC), a grouping that also included Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Laos, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
HP Pakistan will now operate as a country office and report directly into HP Southeast Asia. As country manager, Rizwan, is responsible for overseeing HP Pakistan's operations and leads the Technology Solutions Group (TSG) business in the country.
"This change is driven mainly by the strong growth potential in Pakistan and it is a reflections of our increased commitment to move from being just a service subsidiary in Pakistan, which was set up last August, to a country office primarily involved in Pre-sales, post-sales services and business development," said Tan Lee Chew, Vice President and Managing Director, HP south-east Asia.
"Rizwan is not new to our Pakistan operations, having been managing the TSG business there since 2002. He is a natural choice as our first Pakistan country manager, as he has been instrumental in building our presence and setting the stage for our expansion in the country."
With 10 year's experience with HP in various roles, Rizwan has extensive knowledge of the enterprise business and strong relationships with channel partners. Rizwan holds a post graduate degree in Business Administration as well as a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the University of Karachi in Pakistan.
