German women soccer coach Monika Staab is reaching Lahore on August 4 to run women coaching clinics in Lahore. Monika Staab is currently visiting Pakistan for one-month Women Football Training Programme during which she is going to conduct coaching camps for Pakistani women footballers at headquarters of four provinces and regions.
She will also manage Clinics at Quetta, Peshawar, FATA, Northern Areas, AJK, and Islamabad besides acting as PFF Selection Committee member in third National Women Championship (16-24 August).
"For me it is important that ladies are playing football in Pakistan and it was make possible by dedication of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat. I noticed they have a zeal for the game. Girls are playing and nobody is asking why they are playing football. It is healthy sign considering the cultural barriers," said Monika.
Monika told PFF spokesman that for the backing of every game, money is essential. For promoting women's soccer in Pakistan, sincerity and efforts for engaging more girls were the keys to success. Of course, money is needed for women's soccer, but what is more important is that women should be engaged. We need sincere efforts and dedication from trainers for the uplift of women soccer in Pakistan", she added.
Monika said, although conservative dress code for women in Pakistan may not be an obstacles, followers of the game should be patient to produce satisfactory results. She believed it would take some time for Pakistani women to make an impression, considering their performance in third Amman Women's Football Futsal Championship last year. She called for improving the infrastructure and other facilities for promoting the game of football among Pakistani women.
