Amtech gets $4.9 million solar order, shares rise

Amtech Systems Incsaid it has received a $4.9 million follow-on solar order from a recent new customer based in Asia, sending the company's shares up more than 10 percent. The latest order, which is expected to be shipped in fiscal 2008, takes the company's fiscal year-to-date orders to about $19 million, Amtech said in a statement.
"A lot of solar companies, particularly Asian ones, have raised money, which would certainly be used to buy brand-new equipment from the likes of Amtech," Ramesh Mishra, an analyst with C.E. Unterberg, Towbin, said by phone. Amtech's Asian customer base is expanding and it comprises a number of Chinese customers, including Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd, and India's Moser Baer India Ltd, Mishra added.
