There are lying 900 vacant posts in the government colleges, causing problems both for the students and respective college administration, said Rafiq Sadique, Director Colleges and In charge Central Admission Policy (CAP) Committee.
"As many as 200 lecturers are being appointed in the colleges of the metropolis to overcome the problems in some extent being faced by the students," he said while addressing a press conference in PECHS girls college, the head office of CAP Committee.
He said these appointments would be made under Prime Minister Internship Programme and every lecturer would be paid ten thousand rupees from the fund of this program.
He said, while giving details of admissions in colleges, that one lakh forms had been provided to the 41 branches of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) in the city aimed at facilitating the students and save them from any trouble in the admission process.
"Around 89,900 admissions would be given in 118 colleges and 25 Higher Secondary Schools," Rafiq said and added that all admissions to be made on merit. "Over 8,000 forms have been sold on first day and last date of form distribution is August 20," he said.
He said 13 claim centres had been established out of which 6 are for boys and 7 are for girls to avoid burden on these centres. In case of any mistake in form, students could contact these centres and could get it rectified it without any delay, he added. "No body will be deprived of admission as the students having mark sheets of C and E grades, will be provided admissions in Arts and Commerce groups", he said and added that lists of candidates would be displayed soon after the end of form submission process.
