Tarbela and Mangla Dams were at 1,543 ft and 11,99.70 ft respectively on Saturday which is just 7ft and 2.30ft below their respective maximum conservation levels of 1,550ft and 1,202ft. According to Indus River System Authority (Irsa) data, all the main rivers - Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej, Ravi and Kabul are flowing normal in the country.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department Islamabad special weather advisory, yesterday''s strong Monsoon Weather System over Sindh has weakened and become unimportant. It is expected to dissipate during the next 24 hours.
It said a fresh westerly wave is likely to affect over the upper parts of the country during next 24-36 hours. As per latest flood situation reported by the Sindh Irrigation Department to the Federal Flood Commission, the flood water continues to flow in between left side of MNV Drain and Supro Bund.
However, pressure of water on this Bund is gradually reducing. The rain/flood water between FP Bund, Supro bund and on the right side bank of Johi branch is slowing draining out through MNV drain to Mancher Lake.
All the breaches of FP Bund have since been plugged whereas plugging work on remaining breaches of various drains is in progress. The water will ultimately discharge into the River Indus en route to Manchar Lake where present water level is 113.60 ft against Lake''s maximum conservation level of 117.ft with a further free board of 5ft.
