The district administration calls for evacuation from low lying areas of Rawalpindi after water level in Nullah Lai crossed the danger level due to heavy rains which lashed the city on late Monday night. People in these areas were asked to move to safer places.
The affected areas include Nadeem Colony, Millat Colony, Dhok Elahi Bukhsh and other several areas where the water entered the houses to one-foot high level.
On this occasion, the teams of Civil Defence and Flood Relief Control arrived on the spot to cope with the emergency situation and helped people to move to safe places.
All relief institutions were put on high alert the yesterday night when water rose to four feet above the danger level in Nullah Lai at Gawal Mandi area and six feet in Katarian area. After the rainfall stopped, the water level in Nullah Lai started to drop down.
