First angiography machine, costing Rs 140 million, will soon be installed at Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) in Federal "B" Area. Of the total cost, the Federal government will pay Rs 70 million, while the remaining amount will be paid by the provincial government.
This was revealed by former member of the City Government Health Committee Abdul Hasib Khan, while talking to newsmen. He further said that it would be the first machine of its kind in Asia and expected to be installed by April 2008 at the KIHD.
He added that the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) was taking concrete measures in the health sector, including upgradation of health facilities, like installation of blood testing laboratory. He further said that eight blood collecting centres were being established at different places of the city.
Replying to a question, he clarified that he had left the city government health committee due to his 8involvement in Kite Development and Management Company as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He said that he had joined the committee in December 2005 and worked for the upgradation of Abbasi Shahid Hospital. Now the hospital had acquired most modern equipment and was providing best possible healthcare facilities, he added.
